Colour Scheme

Colour Scheme -

Today I went onto http://colourlovers.com to find the perfect colour scheme for my folk magazine. From the survey I conducted I found that blue was a popular colour, that people seemed to favour for being used within a magazines colour scheme.   I've also decided that a pastel theme would be appropriate to accompany the folk genre, as it’s a very delicate and fun genre of music.

The first colour scheme I looked at is called: A Folks Tale. I found this through searching the word “folk” on the website. As you can see the majority of the scheme is a yellowy cream colour, which would act as the base colour for the magazine. Then the more vibrant colours would be used for text and vectors. I think this colour scheme could work well, however I think more neutrals are used in this palette than other ones I've seen.

The second could scheme I saw is called: Melting Puppies. As you can see there is a large variety of pastel colours, that all work really well together. Even though they are soft colours, they still manage to stand out really well and grab your attention. However if I were to use this palette I would need to combine it with a second palette composed of neutral colours, because it would be to overpowering to solely use the vibrant colours in the Melting Puppies palette.

The third palette I found is called: Vuitton’s Breakfast. I love the chocolate brown colour used in this palette, as I think it really pops against the soft pastel pinks and blues. However out of the three palettes, I think the second one embodies the vintage and feminine feel I'm going for when creating this magazine.

Overall I have chosen to use the Melting Puppies palette, with the neutrals from the Vuitton' s Breakfast (the brown and the cream colour).
